Thanksgiving is my favorite four-day pause of the year, a mini-respite to kick off the holidays and to come together, rest, enjoy and yes, pause.
For me, going full speed, through the days, weeks and months, it’s good to stay home, sleep a little later, reflect on the current year and begin to shape the year ahead. I’ve learned that shaping and guiding are better than planning. Shaping helps us to be available and open to what life has in store for us. Agility and resilience are monikers most small business wear well.
If you’ve read my blog for a while you know, I began this year with a post that reflected my sense of gratitude, and it was so immense that it has carried me through this year. The change has been constant; health issues, houses bought, babies born, people recruited away, others going off on their own, new members learning the ropes and deciding to create a distributed work team. Through it all, our small but mighty team has dug deep, and we’ve hung together. We’ve adapted, learned, and pushed ahead. We’ve tried to show up every day with a smile and a helpful spirit.
We are grateful for our families and friends and each of you. Whether you read our blogs or we’ve had the opportunity to work with you, we hope you have received more than LinkedIn how-tos and tips. Maybe we shared a kind word on a bad day or gave you a new way of thinking about something; perhaps we recommended a book to read, some encouragement or an introduction to someone you’ve come to enjoy knowing. In our mind, it’s more than LinkedIn; it’s about connecting ourselves and you to a bigger world.
Head into this Thanksgiving week with a sense of abundance even if things don’t seem to be going your way. Be grateful, take pause and remember you shape the course of your life and those around you.
