We covered many miles, time zones, and industries this year. We shared our insight and hopefully spread some LinkedIn love to the people we’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with. This year has been a blast. And, when I think of why it’s been a blast, it comes down to the people I know and work with. In this micro-business called Intero Advisory, I have gathered fabulous people who contribute in various ways and I’m thankful for all of them. My colleagues are really trusted advisors and contributors who have played a role throughout my career.
Yvonne Lyons has been a client, colleague, friend, advisor, and editor. She makes sure the words and thoughts I share, and often rant about, make some degree of sense — mostly she saves me from sounding crazy. She’s the one who tells me I’m off base, and is flexible when I continually fail to follow direction. I think she laughs every time I tell her I want to arrange a new editorial calendar, but she indulges me, and suggests another app or approach. I’m grateful she just doesn’t give up on me.
Lindsey Stemann joined me in March and I’ve watched her develop her own brand, as well as IA’s brand, in Greenville, SC. I’ve watched her network grow professionally and personally; she is purposeful in all she does. She keeps me on my toes and challenges me to think in new ways. Lindsey is a natural connector and someone who excels at everything she dives into.
Lynne Leidy and I came together over the summer. A former colleague, Lynne was in search of her next position. She dove into LinkedIn, learned it, and ended up in an unlikely place — at Intero. She brings a different view and a set of project management skills that I don’t have. She is thoughtful, practical, and task oriented in a way I’m not. She even reminds me about the weather, just to make sure I’m clued in.
And then there is you―our clients, influencers, friends, and readers who share our names with others. You are the connectors who share and further our message. If you have passed our posts, resources, emails or names along to others, we are grateful. You are our most valued resource.
Ahh, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention LinkedIn, right? It keeps on changing, that’s good for our business. Someone asked me if I am concerned about hitching my wagon to one platform that may be disrupted. My answer is not really … we have a long way to go before we wear LinkedIn out. My role is to be heads up and understand what’s happening in the world for business professionals to further their brand, business development, and/or recruiting initiatives.
Stay tuned and watch as we grow in 2014 to include more key people who will extend our offerings in more meaningful ways to our clients. We will blog more and perhaps, if I write it down, we will start podcasting. It’s been on the to-do list for a while now. Our blog posts will feature our usual how-to’s, what’s new, an occasional rant, our success stories, and in 2014, we will feature content specific to industries. As always, let us know what you would like to know more about and we will try to roll it in to our posts.
Our goal for 2014 is to cover more miles, meet more new people, and share our knowledge and content so more professionals can join in and build stronger networks who connect them to more business opportunities. What’s yours?
